Diaper rash

Diaper rash is a common skin problem in babies. It occurs when a baby's skin comes into contact with urine and feces for too long. This damages the skin, especially in areas where the diaper rubs. The skin becomes red and tender, and can develop sores. Fortunately, it's easy to treat and prevent.

When does it occur?

  • Wearing a wet or dirty diaper for too long.
  • Diarrhea or frequent stools.
  • Nutritional transitions, such as from bottle feeding to solid foods.
  • Teething.
  • The use of perfumed wipes or aggressive cleaning products.

How do you recognize diaper rash?

  • Red, irritated skin in the area of the buttocks, groin or genitals.
  • Small wounds, bumps or blisters.
  • The skin feels warm and may be swollen.
  • Your baby cries when you change or touch his skin.

How do you treat diaper rash?

  • Change diapers regularly. Don't leave your baby in a wet or dirty diaper for too long.
  • Use baby wipes without alcohol, perfume or other irritants.
  • Make sure the skin is completely dry before putting on a new diaper. Gently pat the skin dry with a cloth. Rubbing can further damage the skin.
  • Use a baby bottom ointment, such as:
    • Aldanex: a barrier cream that forms a protective layer over the skin, helps with recovery and prevents new irritation from urine or feces.
    • Cover: a protective ointment specially developed to treat and prevent diaper rash and other moisture-related injuries. This ointment creates the ideal environment for skin recovery and provides optimal protection against the effects of new urine or feces.
    • DerMel: a soothing honey ointment that speeds up wound healing, reduces irritation and itching, and provides antibacterial protection.
    • AnaMel: A restorative honey ointment with a mild cooling effect. Reduces itching and irritation between the buttocks and provides antibacterial protection.
